Once again Desio experiences arts and technology

THE FESTIVAL
From June 29th to July 1st 2012 the international appointment of Kernel Festival is back. Confirmed, for this second edition, the location of Villa Tittoni Traversi in Desio, an architectural jewel of Eighteenth-century plant, designed by Giuseppe Piermarini and already inserted in the circuit of the "ville gentilizie lombarde" (noble Lombard Villas).
In its first 2011 edition, the Festival involved more than 90 artists and professionals from around the world, offering on the one hand, an opportunity for comparison between young artists and relevant personalities of long experience, and on the other, an instrument of valorization and contemporary reinterpretation of the Villa, neoclassical excellence of the historic and cultural heritage of Brianza.

OPEN CALL
With the same assumptions, AreaOdeon, promoter and organizer of the Festival, is launching international calls for young talents of any nationality, under 35, looking for innovative artistic proposals to be included in the event's program. This kermesse will give space and visibility to young emerging talents alongside international established artists.
The competition includes 4 sections: Electronic Music, Audiovisual Mapping, Interactive & Digital Art, Temporary Architecture.

SELECTION COMMITTEES
The applications will be evaluated by a Selection Committee, specific for each section, consisting of professionals: professors, artists, architects, critics and journalists who, believing in the strong international perspective of the Kernel Festival, have this way expressed their support. Among this year jurors: Emma Zanella - Director of MAGA in Gallarate, Valentina Tanni - Member of the Editorial Board of Artribune, Joseph Grima - Editor in Chief of Domus, Domenico Quaranta - renowned contemporary art critic and collaborator of Flash Art, Douglas Repetto - Director of Research of CMC (Computer Music Center) at Columbia University in New York, Eva Franch i Gilabert - Director of the Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York, as well as artists as Telenoika (Barcelona) and DJ Spooky (New York).

After the success of the first edition, with the support of Città di Desio (Municipality), the support of Provincia di Monza e della Brianza (Provincial administration) and Fondazione della Comunità di Monza e Brianza (Grant Foundation), with the media partnership of Centostazioni S.p.A., the Festival is back with new projects and new collaborations, looking like an appointment not to be missed.
